Stream-a-thon History

The Pokémon Community Stream-A-Thon for St. Jude is a collaborative charity event that unites Pokémon enthusiasts and Twitch streamers to raise funds for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. As part of the larger St. Jude PLAY LIVE and St. Jude Game Warp initiatives, this event harnesses the power of gaming communities to support pediatric cancer research and treatment, helping ensure that families never receive a bill from St. Jude for treatment, travel, housing, or food.

Twitch Partner and Stream-A-Thon founder Sailboat launched the event’s first large-scale fundraising campaign in 2023, bringing together content creators from across the Pokémon community for a common cause. The campaign was a resounding success, raising over $73,000 for St. Jude and showcasing the generosity and dedication of the gaming world. Twitch Streamers ADarkLegacy and MKBreeeezy joined the planning team in 2024.

Now, in 2025, the event aims to reach even greater heights, setting a fundraising goal of $100,000. Over a 10-day, non-stop streaming marathon, featured streamers will engage audiences with a variety of Pokémon-themed content, including gameplay challenges, community battles, giveaways, and special guest appearances. The event not only raises crucial funds but also spreads awareness of St. Jude’s mission, inspiring gamers and viewers alike to contribute to a life-saving cause.

With each passing year, the Pokémon Community Stream-A-Thon continues to grow in scope and impact, proving that when gamers unite for good, they can make a meaningful difference in the lives of children and families battling serious illnesses.
